Is knowing the MERN stack enough as a full-stack developer?

Slowly becoming a full-stack dev.

When I started learning ReactJS in 2020, I was sure I was never gonna touch backend because I thought it was way more complicated for me.

The frontend was the only thing I wanted to continue.

Full-fledged frontend from UI design to live frontend.

But then this unemployment taught me one thing: if it is working in the world, learn it.

At least if it is related to your field.

I went ahead and tried MongoDB for one of the web apps.

During my college years, I loved databases, everything from creating tables, querying, to making ER diagrams. (I was a super star in ER diagram, no kidding)

But full stack is not about the databases only; it's about everything that makes an application run from end to end.

Frontend, server, and databases combine the full stack.

Now, when I am into design for full-stack, I feel the MERN stack is not enough.(it's never enough)

But currently, the products that I am building can be totally built in MERN, so I am not initiating anything for now.

The point is, don't overcomplicate the coding process; you don't have to learn everything all at once. You can totally learn new languages and tools with every new requirement that comes with building.

Knowing here and there and around one language and one stack is enough because you now have the power to build any independent product and launch it.

And you don't need more than that; this clear understanding of one language will make it easier for you to quickly grasp any language thrown at your face.

That's the real beauty of coding, the process is similar, only the packaging is different. (I am not talking about COBOL or FORTRAN here, anyway, those are procedural languages.)

So, as a starter, the MERN stack is enough. It is fun.

Got an AI SaaS idea and need a dev to build it? I’m your person — as long as it’s a paid gig 😄.
